My favorite moment as a senior was the last few weeks of school. All the field trips and just getting closer to finishing high school.

Favorite Moment as a High School Student
My favorite moment as a high school student was lunch time. I met a lot of great people at Simon Tech. I'll miss lunch time but not the lunch. Just hanging out with my friends and making jokes.

Impacts of Globalization
Globalization is a series of economic, social, technological, and political changes that increase interdependence and interaction between people and companies in different locations. It is countries trading goods between each other and helping undeveloped countries continue developing. Countries rely on one another for goods, resources, and services. The three things needed in order for globalization to work is Free Trade, Developing Countries, and Outsourcing. Developing countries are poor so they have no choice but to work for money. Outsourcing is when you remove work from one company and send it to another where workers do it for less money. In Free Trade goods and services are traded between countries without government imposed taxes and fees. There is an agreement called NAFTA, or the North America Free Trade Agreement, which is a three-country agreement negotiated by the governments of Canada, Mexico, and the United States.
The impact from globalization is the increase in women joining the work force. There's an increase because there's a need or non-skilled temporary/part time workers, there is a rise in divorce rates, lower fertility rates, and a rising cost in living. There are many pros and cons to Globalization. A negative to Globalization is the cultural homogenization thesis which states that Western domination of other countries threatens to wash away distinct national cultures. A few negatives are the growth of international trade is exacerbating income inequalities, both between and within industrialized and less industrialized nations, global commerce is increasingly dominated by transnational corporations which seek to maximize profits without regard for the development need of individual countries or the local populations, the volume and volatility of capital flows increases the risks of banking and currency crisis, especially in countries with the weak financial institutions. Some positive effects of globalization are it creates greater opportunities for firms in less industrialized countries to tap into more and larger markets around the world, this can lead to more access to capital flows technology, human capital, cheaper imports and larger export markets, it allows businesses in less industrialized countries to become part of international production networks and supply chains that are the main conduits of trade.

Popular Vote or Electoral Vote
Over the past 200 years, over 700 proposals have been introduced in Congress to reform or eliminate the Electoral College. One main reason being that the President is not chosen by a nationwide popular vote. The Electoral College vote totals determine the winner, not the statistical plurality or majority a candidate may have in the nationwide popular vote totals. Electoral votes are awarded on the basis of the popular vote in each state. The current system encourages presidential campaigns to focus on the 10 or 12 so called “swing states”, which could go to either party.
The District of Columbia and 48 states have a winner-takes-all rule for the Electoral College. In these states, whichever candidate receives a majority of the popular vote, or a plurality of the popular vote, takes all of the state's Electoral votes. The founding fathers establishes the Electoral College in the constitution as a compromise between election of President by a vote in Congress and election of the President by a popular vote of qualified citizens. The Electoral College preserves the voice of states with lower populations and more rural areas, protecting minority interests. Especially in contemporary times, urban areas tend to be more populated, but the Electoral College serves the interests of farmers and those found in less bustling locations. It facilitates a two-party system, Republican and Democrats, creating more stability. The small number of political parties allows for generalized platforms instead of parties focused on specific issues. Lastly, states are given more direct power to select the delegates to the Electoral College, allowing them to participate in the selection of a president and maintaining the representative form of government.

The Enlightenment
The Enlightenment was one of the two things that pushed America into becoming a more stable and fair government. The Enlightenment was a European intellectual movement of the late 17th and 18th centuries. It was when people starting thinking more and questioning everything becoming individual instead of following traditions. It was a time when people started separating the church from state and thinking as individuals to create a government beneficial for everyone. They wanted to change the way people were ruled so that there wasn’t any dictating. There was four philosophers who influenced the Enlightenment and became known for creating a government that could be trusted. The philosophers were Rousseau, Locke, Hobbes, and Montesquieu. They wanted to create a civic society with laws, rights, and responsibilities because they believed that before civilization people lived in a state of nature where there was no rules, chaos, and the survival of the strongest.
Rousseau believed the government was a social contract between the ruler and the people where they had to give up certain rights for protection. This helped keep people safe because of laws like gun control and speed limits which prevent accidents from happening. Locke believed that everyone was born with natural rights, the right to life, liberty, and property. He believed the government was responsible for protecting the natural rights and to protect the weak against the strong. This gave people a voice, property, and rights to live their life. Though later on in time the right to property was changed to the pursuit of happiness. Hobbes believed mankind was evil and the social contract was created to control the worst instincts of mankind. I don't believe people were born evil but I do believe there is evil in the world and that the social contract was made to control them and protect the weak. Montesquieu believed the government couldn’t be trusted and that it should be divided into three branches. This way they had equal power and no corruption. It helped to give everyone equal rights and this meant more views and opinions. It's was a good thing because the rules weren’t going to be made by just one person with one opinion that might not benefit everyone. These four thinkers had a big influence on the government of today.
